December 24, 2008

Not everyone gets a Jeep with bobble head hunters and a singing Buck tied to the hood. In fact the Jeep bounces while all the singing is going on. Thanks Bev......Thank You...Thank You...Thank You......Soooo Much.

December 25, 2008

Always happy, here is Theresa enjoying herself on Christmas evening after getting me to do all the things on her "to do list". (and believe me it was quite a list.....probably 3 toilet paper rolls long).

December 18, 2008

Dressing up is always part of dealing with snow storms. How else can one get people to think I am working when in fact I am just playing around on my tractor?

December 25, 2008

These are the ornament added this year.Katie sent them to us this Christmas.

December 25, 2008

The first thing thing to go up (AFTER THE MANGER SCENE OUT ON THE FRONT PORCH) was the Christmas tree. By the time Theresa got thru it had hundreds of the cutest ornaments you will ever see. Every year she has added a couple more she collected that year.

December 25, 2008

The second thing to go up was the lighted village that has been collected over the years. Htis is about half of it. It is really cute when it is all lit up with the lights off.

December 25, 2008

These are electric candles Theresa had in the windows of her home when she was a little girl. (She still acts like one at Christmas time when she gets into decorating).

December 25, 2008

The last thing we put up was this manger scene we brought from Cleveland last spring. It has been in Theresa's family for 50 years. It rode all the way in the back seat of our car.

December 18, 2008

This is how it looked everywhere.

December 18, 2008

Thanks to a good tractor, I plowed snow twice today.

December 18, 2008

How do you like this for the first snow storm of the 2008 Winter. It didn't get here until the 18th of December. Until then we had a very dry and warmer than usual fall and early part of winter

June 2006

And the Ranch House and the Saddle Room with the Workshop hiding behind both. Yep, what a scene I get every time I walk down the sidewalk from the garage to the house. Especially after a drive home from work. As I look around, I cannot believe that of all the places to love, there is not a better place to love than the Farm. And it is because the Farm always loves you back.

You see, I don't mind a bit driving 60,000 plus miles a year as long as I can come home to the Farm every night. My feelings are always the same. As soon as I get in the car and head home, my heart is always happy because I know what I will find at the end of the road.

June 2006

And by stepping just around the corner I can also see the cabin (with Dawson's "G" room upstairs) and the Wishing Well of course......and Oh, who can forget the swing that is just waiting for the grandkids to show up.

June 2006

Yep, and from the same sidewalk I can see Grandad's tropy, the Barn. It was made from the left overs of three old barns I found here in the county that I had to buy, tare down and haul home. Some of the materials also came from the old caved in barn that was here when we bought the place.

June 2006

And over my shoulder I can look down and see the beauty and feel the peace of the Farm.

June 2006

From the sidewalk I can see all kinds of things to love.......The flower beds, the big front porch and Mom's birdhouse to top it off.

June 2006

There just aint nothing like coming home and nothing like seeing the sidewalk leading to the kitchen door when I have let down the garage door and headed through the garage door. You just feel so happy.

June 2006

Life is so simple here. There are always things to be done but none have a time schedule. Here at the Farm, love is everywhere....you can just feel it.

June 2006

Of all the places to love, the place I love is here at the Farm. With the animals that love us and depend on us, with the birds that stop by the bird feeders, and with friends that look out for us all the time and we for them, how much better could life be?

February 2007

While we were in Florida, we made a quick trip over to the Epcot Center and spent the evening. It was pretty spectacular but really crowded. It took us about an hour to get from the parking lot to the entrance and about an hour to get back to the car. But all in all it was fun....but once is enough.

February 2007

This is the little sea-side market by Port Richie.
It was quite a quaint place for an afternoon visit. We didn't buy anything but we really ate a good meal at a greek Restaurant

February 2007

This is the two trouble makers in Florida, Theresa and Tamara. We went down to a little town with a bunch of greek restaurants and really food. They had little markets with sponges and all kinds of shells etc. It was by Port Richie which is just north of Tampa.

October 7, 2008

In 1993, Firmage Financial (Tom Ralphs) hired me to take over and finish the development of a real estate project they called the Aerie. It was a large subdivision with 10 - 15 acre lots sitting on top of the mountain just above Park City. The lots were being presold for around $250,000.00 each. When I took over, there was still alot of sewer and water line work to be done, and about half the paving was yet to be completed. I spent the summer up there having the time of my life. I got it all finished up just before the snow flew in the fall. I got to meet alot of very wealthy people who bought lots there, like the owner of the Pepsi franchise for all of Georgia and Northern Florida. Also Ed Ames, the singer, etc. This picture is take of Park City from the Aerie.

October 7, 2008

We spent the next day just driving around in the rain and seeing the fall colors. God has some pretty good color designers backing him up. Park City is a very pretty place to see any time of the year.

October 7, 2008

We celebrated Theresa's birthday by staying at the Park City Hotel. The evening before we went up there, we went to the theater in Orem and watched a live performance. It was raining most of the day but everything was so green and pretty. the Porche people were there showing off their new 2009 model. It looked like a nice car, but I could put away a pretty good food storage for the price of one of those puppies.

October, 2008

And here are some more. And would you believe we have another 150 bottle of different things in the garage. The bottle in the upper left is fruit cocktail.

What Fun. We are already looking forward to next fall so we can start all over again.

October, 2008

And More Goodies

October, 2008

Here are some of the goodies.

October, 2008

As soon as the fruit was on and the garden was heavy into production, Theresa's kitchen really got busy. Canning was going on almost every day for weeks. We canned (mostly she) over 400 bottles of everything. Like Apricots, Peaches, Plumbs, Tomatoes, Strawberries, Cherries, Hotdog Relish, and the like. Also almost every combination, like Jellies, Jams, syrups, whole fruits, apple butter, apricot butter, and juices. It was alot of fun even though it was alot of work. We did the canning at her home in Oaker Hills where the kitchen was alot bigger. To help, we set up a Camp Chef stove out on the back porch to help speed up the sterilizing. It was also fun, because we had the deer watching us from about 20 or 30 feet away through the window hoping we would throw out some more peelings. We would just throw them out in the oak brush and they would come and scarf up whatever we threw out.

August 20, 2008

Just to the right of the sign, you will see a flat rock hanging from a rope. It is called the weather rock. It tells you what kind of weather you are having by watching it then matching what it is doing to the list of weather types on the sign. It is amazingly accurate. Quite a spectacular rock.

The rock belongs to one of Donna's relatives who happens to live along the highway to Waterton.

August 20, 2008

When one of the Prince's from England came to Waterton, he was so impressed with the beauty of the surrounding area, that he ordered that his beautiful Chalet style hotel be built. It is made only of large timbers. There is not metal framing in it of any kind. It is really a masterpiece. All the beams and framing that can be seen from the inside is very spectacular. It is quite a site.

August 20, 2008

Waterton is about 40 from Cardston. Part of this lake is in Canada and part is in the US. The mountain behind the lake are part of the Glacier National Park in Montana. This part of the world is really spectacular. There are lakes all over with waterfalls and alot of water everywhere. The town at the bottom of the picture is a tourist town and a great place to find a good restaurant.

August 20, 2008

This is the river that runs through Beezer. I looks very much like the river that runs through Colonia Juarez. There are a few country homes scattered here and there in this very pretty valley. The setting is about 15 miles from Cardston. It is as peaceful here as it gets anywhere in the world. Donna's first husband (Bing Beezer) and his family all grew up here.

August 20, 2008

This is the home where Knolton and Donna live. It is only two blocks from the Cardston Temple. In fact you can see them temple out their front window. Cardston is quite a small town, about the size of Mt. Pleasant or Kamas. It was settled by James Card who sent him find a place in Canada for the saints to settle and escape the polygamy persecution. Others were sent to Mexico. James Card and James Henry Martineau were very well acquainted since they both worked on getting the church established in the Cache Valley (Logan area to be exact). They both refer to each other in their respective journals.

August 20, 2008

In August we went to Cardston Alberta Canada to see Knolton and Donna and had the grandest time. They are the best hosts you can imagine. While we were there, they took us up to Waterton, to see the Heterites, to Beezer ( a very quaint little town where Donna's family grew up.)

November 15, 2008

Every morning Theresa is brought back to life by these beautiful friends. They have been called by some pretty strong sounding names at 6 o'clock in the morning.....especially when her wake up time is around 9. We got these (hens) from the guy that does our horse shoeing. He said they were hens....but as you can tell they are all roosters. I know he was just trying to get rid of them and knew we were dumb enough to take them in. Since they beat up on everyone in the chicken coop, we make them stay outside all the time. They roost in the rafters of the horse shed. They wander around the yard all day long and are pretty tame. I strongly believe they will end up dead if Theresa is having a particularly bad morning and they push her past her limit. She will probably blame the deaths on some vicious raccoon or predator.

November 30, 2008

This is who Christmas is all about. He was the greatest of teachers.....our savior.

November 30, 2008

This is what the nativity scene looks like all put together. The taller figures are about 3 feet tall. I also went down to the store and bought a spot light to shine on the baby Jesus. I screwed it into the ceiling. I really looks cool now. This picture just shows the scene with only a regular light.

November 30, 2008

Here is where I was unboxing Joseph. There are a total of 14 pieces with the donkey, cow, two sheep, and all the Wisemen, the angel and the shepard. Anyway, it took about an hour to make. Also I made a platform for them to sit on. I must have spent 3 or 4 hours getting the thing set up.

November 30, 2008

Boy, once Thanksgiving was over, Theresa decided to work me to death setting up christmas stuff all over the place. Here I am unloading all the boxes that have our nativity scene. Thank goodness for a good tractor to help me. The visitors came from the east.

November 2008

Thad & Tami came for a visit the day after Halloween and brought us two boxes of apples.. Yeah!! more canning.. haha..
They love to be at the farm and climb around. Daniel not shown in pic. is so deadly afraid of animals that when Princess the cat came to play with him he screamed. He'll get over it I hope

November 2008

This is much better than a real pumpkin..
after all they get stolen anyway..

November 2008

We couldn't afford a lock and key... Bill found this to work just as well.

November 2008

This is the new nesting quarters at the chicken house Hilton Hotel for the chickens. They now can lay their eggs in privacy within the sound-proof little rooms that Bill Martineau designed. The only problem is, one way in and one way out. The lid is shut with a cobblers hammer that is placed on top only to be removed in case of emergency. Too bad they haven't figured out how to pick it up yet. Picture to follow.

November 2008

This is a tradition in Fairview to steal the pumpkins and deposit them at the Y in the road by the gas stations. Sometimes they even decorate the center with an out-house that somehow appears.

October 2008

With make-up you can become anything... These are the Jackson kids... I like the skeleton.... he really fits the part.

October 2008

These are our neighbors grandchildren. Check out the little wings and the fake smile on the cheerleader. They were only 2 of the 8 children who came to trick or treat.

October 2008

This is Lily with her head hanging over the bucket and her new pals Boots the Tiger and Princess who does not want her face shown

October, 2008

This is my Christmas Cactus that I hauled from Ohio but.... I think it is a bit confused. I thought they bloomed at Christmas and here it is October.
